 HwC Interview with AJ Styles

Interviewed by: Jim Ross

J.R.: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with the current United States Champion, AJ Styles. A.J., first, I’d like to ask you some simple opinion questions, and we’ll get to the major topics later. How do you feel about the newly crowned Tag Team Champions, Evolution?

A.J. Styles: Well it's a little surprising, but on the other hand, it's not. I mean, those segments with Triple H and HBK. There was a lot of disagreements, fighting, and harsh words. .I knew it was coming but I didn't know how soon. Evolution will be hard to dethrone.

J.R.: What about the Ultimate Warrior? Do you think he’s good enough to be a double champion like you once were?

A.J. Styles: No. He's no where near what I once was, and will become again. He'll crumble under pressure because he doesn't know how to handle being as Phenomenal as myself.

J.R.: Have you ever thought about forming a stable with a current HwC Superstar?

A.J. Styles: I have thought about forming a stable lately because of my World Title loss, but I would bring a few of my buddies in because people in the HwC aren't up to my par.

J.R.: What was it like winning the first Royal Rumble match, and becoming the first world champion all in one night?

A.J. Styles: Well, J.R., it was amazing. Everyone wishes to do what I had accomplished, winning the Royal Rumble, and becoming the first World Champion, But to do it in one night? That was unbelievable, and truly one of the best things in my career so far.

J.R.: What do you think about the boss, Vince Russo?

A.J. Styles: I had good feelings for him when I first came in into the HwC. Everything that has happened to me thus far, he guaranteed would happen…up until Wrestlemania, When he showed his true colors. Everyone saw that he had sided with new blood and turned on the Franchise of this here federation and going with an old friend. Now, he is back at the bottom of the totem pole in my mind.

J.R.:  When do you plan on defending your U.S. Title?

A.J. Styles: Well, I have held it close to a half a year now, and have successfully defended it numerous amounts of times, but since I had the World Title also around my waist at the same time, the fellow superstars here wanted the best piece of gold. So if anyone wants to challenge me for it I am happy to defend it.

J.R.: Do you think you’ll win the European Championship?

A.J. Styles: Of course. I have the same feeling in me as I did when I won my previous belts…unless someone tries to screw me.[laughs and pats JR on the shoulder]

J.R.: When do you think you’ll use your Rematch Clause? 

A.J. Styles: Once I think the time is right, when Sting has had enough fun defending it against unknown jobbers and superstars who live off of their paycheck and sleep in their cars for a living. Let's just say it will be used shortly, and I won't wait the whole year either.

J.R.: What do you plan on doing in response to the actions that took place at WrestleMania during your match?

A.J. Styles: I have my plans J.R., And I am not going to tell you what those are, but let's just say that they will benefit me and ruin other people's careers until I am happy with myself once and for all.

J.R.: What is your honest opinion on the World Champion, Sting?

A.J. Styles: Well...to be honest with you, J.R., I don't think he deserves that title. Not this soon. He really hasn't showed me much to make him the leader of this business like me.

J.R.: My last question is this, AJ. Do you believe that you will be able to make your way back to the top with the Owner’s bias towards you?

A.J. Styles: Who knows, J.R., He might just try to keep me down in the gutters, The fact of the matter is that the crowd wants me, and this federation needs me. Without me at the top of the pedestal, they will be nothing.
